GIRL, YOU HAVE OPTIONS

Every project has goals. We happen to have a mission that is slightly ambitious, but it is doable. We are out to bring at least 1,000 women into the Technology Driven Future, beginning in 2017. We will document their journey as per the request of sponsors, supporters and site visitors.

A massive movement will erect a large population of women to crash into the statistics and media that have claimed women and girls do not seem to have a real interest in technology.

According to a 2012 FORBES Magazine article on Women In Tech or the lack thereof, women have not had the interest in working in the Tech Industry.

In the past, technology jobs were viewed by women as populated by men in basements, working alone, as an organ of the computer. Harvey Mudd’s President, Maria Klawe compiled her own research and offered a more substantive explanation, “We’ve done lots of research on why young women don’t choose tech careers and number one is they think it’s not interesting. Number two, they think they wouldn’t be good at it. Number three, they think they will be working with a number of people that they just wouldn’t feel comfortable or happy working alongside.”

We are on a mission to change the world but we want to start, right here in America.  America needs women to emerge into the Technology space. We need the participation of women in more spaces than just engineering. There are thousands of ways for women to get involved with Technology. We are here to open the minds of everyday women and direct them to the gateway of opportunity.
